OptiNAND combines iNAND® UFS EFD (Universal Flash Storage Embedded Flash Drive) memory with the proven rotating storage medium and makes innovative changes to the firmware algorithm and SoC (System-on-a-Chip). But OptiNAND is not a hybrid technology. Thanks to improved firmware algorithms, the hard drives become more efficient: they take advantage of the rich metadata that has been moved to the iNAND, achieving more tracks per inch (TPI) and greater areal density.
